JMACTS (Jagruthi Mutually Aided Co-Operative Thrift Society Ltd) has been working with rural and urban communities of the Visakhapatnam District since 1992. JMACTS is a community-driven organization involve the community members at the village level committees in implementing the practices including governance-related exercises. In the year 2012, the collaboration between JMACTS and NABARD has been initiated implementing of UPNRM Programme, Farmer's Club and MEDP (Micro Enterprise Development Programme).
JMACTS promoted 20 farmer clubs in Sabbavaram Mandal of Visakhapatnam District, with coordination between farmer communities and support of NABARD, acting as a liaison. A few of its salient features are listed below:
1. A survey was made by the organization for the feasibility of Farmer Clubs at various villages.
2. Upon interacting with the farmers of the villages, problems of those farmers were identified and an action plan was drawn.
3. These guidelines were then explained to all the farmers wanting to join the Farmer Clubs.
4. 15- 20 active farmers were identified as volunteers from each village.
